Writing Workshops

If you have a small or big writing flame burning inside it’s better to let it have an outlet instead of bottling it up.

If you have a writing idea, no matter whether it’s fully worked out or simply roaming around in your head, this course will help you start to see your ideas take form. You might have an idea of writing a memoir, or a collection of short stories, or a children’s story book, or a collection of poetry, a play, a film script, a long short story, or a novel, this course will help you get started, continue, develop or complete your project.

We will work as a group, learning the tricks of writing and spending time as a group on each other’s projects. Please don’t think you have to have been writing for years or have everything worked out. Maybe there are certain aspects of writing that you need help with. Or maybe you keep getting stuck. Or whatever thing you need to know about writing, this course will help you get on with it.

It’s very common for people to feel a bit uncertain or uncomfortable when it comes to their own writing. Working in this group you will be made to feel comfortable and safe to discuss and learn more about writing. Tutor Michael Hyde has taught writing for forty years at secondary and tertiary level and had over thirty books published.

The first creative writing course at Manna Gum was held last year and proved to be a productive and enjoyable learning experience.
